Kamchanod Forest
Kamchanod Forest is located on a small island, cut through by small streams near Tambon Wang Tong village, Ban Dung district, Udon Thani province. This dense forest is believed by locals to be the underground kingdom of the Phaya Naga myth, and is the place where many of the most famous ghost stories are associated.
Ban Tha Tum
The village is located in Tambon Mu Mon, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province. A 46-year-old man lived alone in a house there. He was insane due to drug addiction and often screamed loudly at night. In early June 2024, he died about 3–4 days before being discovered. Before he died, neighbors heard him calling out to his deceased mother, asking her to take him away. What was even more terrifying was that they heard his deceased mother’s voice answering, while dogs howled throughout the night.
Submafai Forest
The forest is part of Thap Lan National Park. In mid-September 2017, a 73-year-old local woman went into the forest to pick mushrooms. She said a woman dressed in a traditional green Thai dress led her to a house in the forest. Meanwhile, her family searched for two days. They finally found her, miraculously alive despite the rain and in good health.
Tamle Forest
Tamle Forest in Chum Phuang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. In early September 2017, a young man got lost in the forest for five days. He said he found his way out thanks to a mysterious woman dressed in a green traditional Thai dress who guided him. Locals believe the forest is haunted.
Rural Villages in Buriram
Two villages in the rural area of Chamni District, Buriram Province. In mid-July 2017, two women, an 18-year-old girl and a 59-year-old woman, reported seeing a strange flying creature, resembling a man with large wings, at night, called Krahang. The 59-year-old woman in particular said that the creature had appeared in her dreams for a long time and believed that it came from an abandoned house in the area where her family used to live.

Phanom Rung Historical Park
Phanom Rung Historical Park is a Khmer stone temple complex located on an extinct volcano in Buriram Province, built in the 10th century to honor Shiva, one of the supreme gods of Hinduism. At night, people are reported to encounter Preta – a tall, hungry ghost that causes harm.

Din Piang Cave
Phu Bo Bid Mountain Cave in Tambon Kut Pong, Mueang Loei District, Loei Province. In late September 2016, locals discovered a strange footprint with only three toes. They believe it was the footprint of Phi Kong Koi – a small, hairy, one-legged jungle vampire.
Phu Kradueng National Park
Phu Kradueng National Park is a popular natural tourist destination in Loei Province. Phu Kradueng Mountain has long been known for its beauty and many scenic spots. However, there are rumors that many visitors have encountered ghosts here. The most famous story is about a group of private university students who went trekking. One student in the group fainted while walking through the forest and said that a giant shadow fell on him and crushed his chest. After returning home, his family went to the temple to make offerings and bathe in holy water to dispel the effects of this encounter. The story was widely known through the popular TV show “At Ten” on Channel 3 in mid-2004.
